EMS TRAINING ACADEMY - Fort Totten, Queens

As sub to Cameron Engineering Associates, RRA joined CEA's team to renovate the 3-story, east wing interior of this historic, revolutionary war building. Residing on NYC Parks & Recreation property, Fort Totten (built in the 1800s) remains the headquarters of the U.S Army Reserves 77th Division and the Statue of Liberty Division.

Building 325 is operated by the FDNY and seves as the Training Academy for all EMS and EMT personnel accross the five boroughs. Construction approval processes included Landmarks Preservation Commission review as well as DOB compliance. RRA produced multiple design iterations for this comprehensive interior transformation, taking the selected version from Schematic Design through Construction Documentation. CEA supervised the Construction Administration process while implementing their designs for new MEP systems and structural modifications. The reconfigured programming includes:

  • instructor workstations,
  • classrooms and instuctor offices
  • student lounge and cafeteria
  • simulation and control rooms
  • museum/memorial room
